Chipped, cracked, and broken teeth can not only affect your overall self-confidence but can affect your oral health. These dental issues can lead to sensitivity, chewing discomfort, cavities, and infections. At Centre Mall Dental, we provide a range of advanced dentistry techniques to restore your smile and alleviate any oral health issues. Our patients can choose from veneers, bonding, gum recontouring, crowns, caps, bridges, dentures, and fillings.
Fillings
Even if you practice scrupulous dental hygiene and avoid foods that erode your tooth enamel, it’s still possible to get a cavity. The time-honoured remedy for cavity repair is to seal the cavity with a dental filling. It is important to have regular checkups to be aware of any potential cavities because if left alone, a cavity can develop into a more significant problem which may jeopardize the entire tooth.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of tooth-coloured porcelain that we can use to cover stains or mask flaws such as cracked, broken, or misshapen teeth. Porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics” because they can also be applied to straighten the appearance of a crooked smile.
Cosmetic Dental Bonding
By applying a thin coating of a tooth-coloured resin composite material to teeth, we can improve the appearance of cosmetic flaws. In many cases, cosmetic bonding is more affordable and just as effective as porcelain veneers, though results will not last as long.
Root Canals
Unfortunately, when tooth decay has progressed to the point that it reaches the pulp (inner portion) of the tooth, a simple cavity filling will not be enough to stop the decay and restore the tooth. Instead, a root canal must be performed in order to save the tooth from needing extraction.
During a root canal, the pulp of the tooth is entirely drilled out and replaced with an inert material. This not only removes the decay but stops the infection and helps retain the structural integrity of the tooth.
In our office, we provide local anesthesia for all root canal procedures. This means that the area of your mouth surrounding the affected tooth will be completely numbed using an injection of anesthesia. You will not feel any pain but perhaps a little bit of pressure during the root canal itself.
Dental Crowns
When a tooth has been damaged extensively by a cavity, we will most likely perform a root canal to remove the infected tooth pulp. To restore functionality and appearance, as well to seal the tooth from further damage, a dental crown will then be placed over the entire tooth surface.
Dental Bridges
If a patient is missing one or more teeth but is not necessarily a good candidate for dentures or dental implants, he or she may be fitted with a dental bridge. A bridge is an artificial tooth that is held in place by a dental crown on either side of the gap created by the missing tooth.
Dentures
At Centre Mall Dental, we offer both full and partial dentures to our patients. Unlike dental bridges or dental implants, dentures are removable replacement teeth. We use the most modern materials and methods to create our dentures, so our patients can always be assured as comfortable fit and the most realistic appearance.
